The following are believed to be births to women with the maiden name
Cree. However it is strange that no actual Cree births seem to be
recorded between 1847-1876. Perhaps there was a change of religion or
church.

The fathers names are Joseph, John and James. Perhaps there is more
than one father with the same surname but it should be possible to
achieve some correlation with the Millisle Church Register which I
recorded previously above.
At the end of the notebook there is an interesting note, namely, "
The phrase 'Deus soit quem' which occurs too frequently in this book
signifies 'God knows whom'. By it I express my ignorance of the name
of the father of the child, and also that the child is illegitimate.
In fact, he is a wise man who knows his own father; but in this case
the child is not always laid to the real father, I keep in the safe
side when I say that 'God alone knows who is the real father of the
child."

Marriages: (page 139?)
23 January 1834. James Cree of Ballycastle to Is.(abella) Adam of
Lower Ballyblack by Rev D. Jeffrey and Rev A. McIlwain.
(This marriage is a vital piece of evidence since it proves that the
Durham Cree are direct descendents of the Ballycastle Cree, leading
back to the gravestones in Movilla churchyard.)

All of the seventeenth and eighteenth century gravestones are in the
area round the church, with an extension towards the present main
gate, that is the area bounded by the small tarred path.
The following two Montgomery gravestones were found by T.J. Cree to
overlap indicating that Robert Montgomery is probably the son of
Hugh. The gravestone of Robert Cree confirms the Ballyrogan
connection.
Montgomery Here lieth the body of Hugh Montgomery who departed
this life the 27th of August 1756 age 69 years. Also his wife Esther
Montgomery alias Cree who departed this life the 8th of Febry 1765
aged 76 years.
Montgomery Here lieth the remains of Robert Montgomery of
Ballyrogan who departed this life May the 9th 1797 aged 76 years.
Also the remains of his wife Isabella Montgomery alias Ree who
departed this life March the 26th 1801 aged 66 years.
