Isabella Cree
Female, CreeID#7101, (19 January 1875 - )
Charts | Line 10b. The Perth maltmen line |
Isabella Cree was born on 19 January 1875 in Upper Mill Street, Blairgowrie, Perthshire, Scotland. In the birth register she is shown as "illegitimate" although both parents are named and both signed the register as informants of the birth.1,2,3 She was the daughter of Crawford Cree and Jessie McLellan.
On 3 April 1881 Isabella Cree was living in the household of Crawford Cree and Jessie McLellan in 15 Keydan Street, Kinning Park (Glasgow), Lanarkshire, Scotland, along with William McLellan Cree, Annie Cree and David Cree. Crawford Cree is shown as a pawnbroker's assistant aged 55 [mistranscription for 35? - must see original] and Jessie is shown as Jaenet [sic] aged 40. William Cree is an apprentice joiner aged 15.
Crawford's brother David was living at 16 Keydon Street, Govan, which may have been very close.
By co-incidence I found this on a bulletin board on the web from someone signing as Liz
"I left Glasgow 30 years ago but still class it as home although I have very few family left there now. Glasgow still holds dear in my heart and the memories of the place and people will never leave me. I was born 1962 in Keyden St Kinning Park and was brought up by my granny Connelly. We later moved in '69 to new flats in Penilee. I remember the flats being like luxury to my grannie, having an inside bathroom and toilet instead of sharing the toilet with other families in the close... A lot of the neighbours in these flats were all from the slums that were being demolished and I still remember the day we went to be given keys. Everyone was there outside a portacabin whilst the keys were being distrubited. Next thing lots of keys were being changed hands as the new tenants were swapping their flats with each other so they could be next to their old neighbours."4
On 5 April 1891 Isabella Cree was living in 2 Allanton Terrace, Largs, Ayrshire, Scotland. She was aged 16, born Blairgowrie and a servant in the household of Robt Thomson.2,5
On 31 March 1901 Isabella Cree was living in Duncraig, Glamis Rd, Liff & Benvie, Angus, Scotland. She was aged 26, born Blairgowrie and a housemaid in the household of Thomas Couper.6,2

Annie Cree was born in 1876 or 1877 in Blairgowrie, Perthshire, Scotland.1 She was the daughter of Crawford Cree and Jessie McLellan.
On 3 April 1881 Annie Cree was living in the household of Crawford Cree and Jessie McLellan in 15 Keydan Street, Kinning Park (Glasgow), Lanarkshire, Scotland, along with William McLellan Cree, Isabella Cree and David Cree.
Next thing lots of keys were being changed hands as the new tenants were swapping their flats with each other so they could be next to their old neighbours."1
On 5 April 1891 Annie Cree was living in the household of Crawford Cree and Marion Stewart in 34 Keyden Street, Kinning Park (Glasgow), Lanarkshire, Scotland, along with David Cree, Crawford Hill Cree, Walter Hill Cree and James Stewart Cree.2
