Catharine Cree was also known as Kathrine Cree. She was born on 20 February 1808 in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland.1 She was the daughter of Mathew Cree and Euphemia Love. Catharine Cree was baptised on 6 March 1808 in Queen Anne Street Burgher Associate Church, Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland.1,2
Her son Andrew McGregor was born in 1834 in Inverkeithing, Fife, Scotland.3,4
Her son Mathew Cree was born in 1836 or 1837.5
On 6 June 1841 Catharine Cree was living in the household of Euphemia Love in Milesmark, Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland, along with Mathew Cree, James Wilson, Hariot Wilson and Andrew McGregor. Euphemia Wilson, as she is now called, appears to have been widowed a second time. She is now aged 50 (rounded figure) and a washerwoman. We have assumed that Mathew, aged 7, is actually Matthew McGregor, Catherine's son shown on the 1851 Census as aged 17.5
Catharine Cree married George Forfar on 20 July 1844 in Dunfermline, Fife. George Forfar, carter, Dunfermline and Catherine Cree residing there gave in their names for proclamation in order to marriage, being three times proclaimed and no objections made, their certificate to that effect was granted. She was his third wife.6
Her daughter Euphemia Forfar was born in 1851 or 1852 in Dunfermline, Fife.7
On 30 March 1851 Catharine Cree and George Forfar were living in Woodmill Street, Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland, along with Cecilia Forfar. George was aged 38 and a labourer. Catherine was named Cree, although married to george, in accordance with the Scottish custom. Cecilia was 9.8
On 7 April 1861 Catharine Cree and George Forfar were living in Windmill Street, Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland, along with Cecilia Forfar. George was now 49 and a carter while Catherine was 54. Cecily (sic) was aged 20 and a linen winder.9
Her mother Euphemia Love died on 22 October 1872 in Milesmark, Dunfermline, Fife.10,11
Catharine Cree died on 21 August 1884 in New Row, Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. The cause of death was recorded as cancer.12,13

Esther Mossom Blanchard was born c May 1875 in Guisborough, County Durham, England. Two birth registrations have been traced for girls named Esther Mossom in 1875: one in Guisborough Reg Dist. and one in Stockton Reg Dist. However both babies died within two years. The 1881 Census says this Esther was born in Guisborough, the 1891 says Redcar.1,2 She was the daughter of William Thomas Blanchard.
On 3 April 1881 Esther Mossom Blanchard was living in the household of William Thomas Blanchard in Colliery Cottage, Dene Bridge, Chilton, County Durham, England, along with Hannah Blanchard (married name).
