On 2 April 1911 Reuben Cree was living in the household of Hugh Cree and Eliza Majorie in 8 King Street, Bangor, County Down, Ireland, along with Elizabeth Cree. Hugh Cree and Eliza Majorie have a married daughter, Elizabeth McNeill and a grandson Ruban Cree, 9, with them. Eliza is recorded as Elizabeth, which must be an error as she is 50 years married with 13 children, of whom 10 are alive. Hugh is still a general labourer at 71. Elizabeth McNeill's name is altered from Elizabeth Cree on the householder's return. She is aged 42, married and a charwoman and shown as married 25 years with three children, all still living.4

William Cree was born on 2 April 1834 in Lisburn, County Antrim, Ireland.1 He was the son of James Cree and Mary Ann Chapman. William Cree was a Sapper in the Royal Artillery from 11 October 1854 to 1 August 1863. On enlistment at the age of 20 years and 6 months he was described as a carpenter. He served five years overseas, in India and Mauritius, and received the Indian Mutiny medal. In 1863 he was discharged as unfit for service due to a spinal injury. He was then of fresh complexion with grey eyes and light brown hair and his intended place of residence was Lisburn.
