Corporal Sydney Cree was born c August 1921 in Chester le Street Reg Dist, County Durham, England.1 He was the son of James Vicker Cree and Sarah Elizabeth Hewitson.
Corporal Sydney Cree died on 10 September 1944 in Geel, Antwerpen, Belgium. He was buried at Geel War Cemetery. In the early part of September 1944, Geel was the scene of some of the heaviest fighting encountered by Commonwealth troops since they had left Normandy. The 50th (Northumbrian) Division and the 15th Scottish Division were both involved here in the forcing of crossings of the Albert Canal and the Meuse-Escaut Canal, necessary for the advance into Holland. Some of the casualties they suffered were originally buried in a meadow near the centre of the commune, and some in the St. Dymphna civil cemetery; these graves were later moved into Geel War Cemetery.2

Mary Ann Oliver was born c February 1880.1 She was the daughter of Samuel Hutchins Oliver and Sarah Adams Cree.
On 3 April 1881 Mary Ann Oliver was living in the household of Sarah Adams Cree and Samuel Hutchins Oliver in 8 Canada Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, England. Samuel was aged 31 and a ship's carpenter. Sarah was stated to be 39 but probably gave a reduced age because she was older than her husband. She was a straw hat maker. Mary A Cree was one year old.2

Thomas Bucknell Lloyd was Lucy's brother. He was a widower aged 36 and Perpetuatual Curate of St Mary's, Shrewsbury. John and Lucy Cree were visitors. John was 36 years old and Curate of Upton, Bucks. Lucy was aged 39. Harriet Lloyd was a widow aged 60. As well as his mother, Thomas Bucknell Lloyd had five young children living with him, an unmarried sister and seven servants.1
