Robert Sloan married Agnes Cree, daughter of Thomas Cree and Eliza Campbell, on 19 November 1917 in St Annes Church, Belfast, Ireland. The witnesses were William Sinclair and Letitia Smith. It seems that Robert Sloan was the brother of Agnes Cree's first husband, although she was described as a spinster in the marriage record, possibly because such marriages were illegal until 1921. She was now aged 39. Robert was aged 36 and a labourer. Both were of 4 Barrow Street, Belfast.1
