Johne Crie was born on 18 November 1680 in Perth, Scotland.2 He was the son of Thomas Crie and Elspeth Smith.1 Johne Crie was baptised on 18 November 1680 in Perth.3
We know of four Crie men, Hendrie Cree, Andrew Crie and John Cree, who married in Abernethy, Perthshire, Scotland, between 1699 and 1718. We can only trace the birth record of one of them (Johne Crie), probably because the other three were born in Abernethy and the parochial records from before 1694 have not survived. But for the fact that two of them were named John(e), we would have surmised that they were brothers.
Johne Crie married Marjory Lean on 20 May 1704 in Abernethy, Perthshire.1,4
His daughter Anna Cree was baptised on 22 April 1705 in Abernethy, Perthshire.1
His son Henrie Cree was baptised on 15 December 1706 in Abernethy, Perthshire.1
In September 1708 Johne Crie was living in Lumbonny, Newburgh, Fife, Scotland. Modern Easter and Wester Lumbennie are in Newburgh parish about 2 km south of Newburgh village.5
His son John Cree was baptised on 5 September 1708 in Newburgh, Fife, Scotland.1,6
His daughter Mary Crie was baptised on 22 October 1710 in Newburgh, Fife.7
His son William Cree (of Sprotbrough, Yorkshire) was baptised on 5 December 1712 in Abernethy, Perthshire.8

His son George Crie was baptised on 22 November 1719 in Newburgh, Fife.

Charts | Line 14. The Perth weavers line |
William Cree (of Sprotbrough, Yorkshire) was baptised on 5 December 1712 in Abernethy, Perthshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of Johne Crie and Marjory Lean.2
Is William Cree (of Sprotbrough, Yorkshire) the same person who was born in Abernethy in 1712? He was a gardener who named his sons John and William while Wiliam Cree of Abernethy also had a brother John. Descendants of William Cree (of Sprotbrough, Yorkshire) had YDNA that closely matches that of the Perth burgesses.3
Y-DNA tests on the descendants of William Cree (of Sprotbrough, Yorkshire) and Thomas Crie show that they are closely related. Since they cannot be brothers (William being too old) they are almost certainly first cousins.4
William Cree (of Sprotbrough, Yorkshire) married Martha Nicholson, daughter of John Nicholson and Elizabeth Jud, on 2 July 1744 in Parish Church, Sprotbrough, Yorkshire, England. The circumstances of their marriage are discussed in a separate article here.5,6
His daughter Elizabeth Cree was baptised on 21 September 1744 in St Georges, Doncaster, Yorkshire, England.7
His daughter Ann Cree was baptised on 9 March 1745/46 in Sprotbrough, Yorkshire, England.8
His daughter Ann Cree died in May 1747.9
His son John Cree was baptised on 22 November 1747 in Sprotbrough, Yorkshire.10
His son William Cree was baptised on 17 September 1749 in Sprotbrough, Yorkshire.6,11
William Cree (of Sprotbrough, Yorkshire) died in June 1750 in Sprotbrough, Yorkshire. He was buried on 1 July 1750 in St Mary the Virgin, Sprotbrough, Yorkshire, England. "Gardiner to Godfrey Copley esq."6

Hendrie Crie was born on 9 November 1680 in Perth, Scotland.1 He was the son of James Crie and Isobell Blair. Hendrie Crie was baptised on 23 November 1680 in Perth.1,2
Hendrie Crie died before 1694. A deed of 1694 described John Crie as third lawful son of the said James Crie. This implies that two out of James's four sons born before John must have died by 1694. (All four are known to be "lawful sons".) We know Alexander was alive in 1711 and that Patrick went on to become Provost of Perth like his father, dying in 1754. That means that Andrew and Hendrie Crie died by 1694.
