Charts | Line 17. The Perth glovers line Chart 1792 Kirkintilloch |
Agnes Cree was born on 9 February 1856 in Bathgate, West Lothian, Scotland.1,2 She was the daughter of Archibald Crie and Mary McMunn. Agnes Cree was baptised on 13 April 1856 in St Michaels, Linlithgow, West Lothian, Scotland.3
On 7 April 1861 Agnes Cree was living in the household of Archibald Crie and Mary McMunn in 33 Newtown, Boness, West Lothian, Scotland, along with Archibald Cree, Mary Cree and James Cree. Archibald was an ironstone miner and was shown as born at Kilmarnock. The evidence points to a very slapdash enumerator, possible one who was hard of hearing, and a careless transcriber too. The surname was transcribed as "Cora" although the original shows it as Cree. Archibald and Mary's son Archibald was shown as born at "Bickerton." There is no such place as far as I know and it would seem to be a mishearing of Riccarton.
Agnes Cree married Thomas Law in 1876 in Kilsyth, Stirlingshire, Scotland.4
On 5 April 1891 Agnes Cree and Thomas Law were living in 3 Twechar Row, Kirkintilloch, Dunbartonshire, Scotland, along with Archibald Crie and Elizabeth Cree. This address appears to be next door to where Agnes's brother William was living.
Thomas Law was a coal miner aged 38 and Agnes was 36. Their eight children were listed but not shown here. Archibald Cree (surname shown in error as Case) was shown as Thomas's father-in-law, aged 63 and an ironstone miner. Elizabeth was his daughter, aged 16.
