The Cree On-line Genealogy Database

Quick search using ID

Each person in the Cree Genealogy Database is allocated a unique ID number. This helps to distinguish the numerous people with the same name. There are over 160 people recorded with the name James Cree - and a few more named James Crie!

If you know the ID number of an individual in the Database you can find that person's details by entering the ID number in this box and clicking GO:

The Cree On-line Genealogy Database displays biographical details of all deceased Cree individuals we know about and their close family members. In accordance with our Privacy Policy, details of people who are still alive are not shown. The On-line Database is updated monthly (or more frequently) from an off-line database containing details of over 8000 individuals (as at January 2012).

How to find people in the Cree Genealogy Database

Use the Surname Index or the Master Index if you know their name and year of birth or death

Use the Cree Lines pages if you know which Cree surname line they belong to. This gives a list of over twenty main surname lines, with links to charts of these lines. When you have found a "person of interest" in a chart you can click on the name to show their entry in the Database. The Cree Lines pages also contain maps and links to articles in the Cree Genealogy section.

Use the Place Index if you know where a person lived, was born, married or died. This index is in alphabetical order of of counties (Britain and Ireland), states (Australia, USA) and provinces (Canada, New Zealand). Smaller places like towns and parishes are listed under each county, state or province.

Aside from the Cree On-line Genealogy Databse, there's a number of Indexes that you can search in the Indexes section of this web site. These consist of Cree entries abstracted from public indexes of records such as births, marriages and deaths. There is some coverage of such records from Britain, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.

Exploring family relationships

Once you have located a person's details you can explore their ancestry and relationships by clicking on the names of their parents, spouse(s) or children. (Remember any text in GOLD is a link.) The "Pop-up Pedigree" shows a small three-generaton tree. The link under "Charts" leads to the chart of their whole Cree line as far as it's known. Names on the charts are all clickable links leading to the details of the indviduals named. A plus sign (+) against a child's name means that the child also has a child or children in the Database.

If you've been here before and made a note of the ID number of the person, use the green box above to go straight to that person's details.

Remember that text coloured GOLD is always a clickable link throughout the Detailed Cree Genealogies as in the whole of this Cree Surname web site.
