| Charts | Line 10b. The Perth maltmen line |
Y-DNA tests on the descendants of Thomas Crie and William Cree (of Sprotbrough, Yorkshire) show that they are closely related. Since they cannot be brothers (William being too old) they are almost certainly first cousins.1 Thomas Crie was baptised on 15 February 1725 in Kirkton of Mailer, Forteviot, Perthshire, Scotland. No mother's name is recorded but the baptism in Forteviot and the marriage of the father Thomas Crie in Forteviot suggest that Margaret Lenie was his mother. However we must be aware that Kirkton of Mailer was then in a detached part of Forteviot, north of the River Earn, and actually closer to Aberdalgie.2,3,4 He was the son of Thomas Crie and Margaret Lenie.
Thomas Crie married Elspeth Fotheringham on 26 July 1747 in Aberdalgie, Perthshire, Scotland.2
Thomas Crie married Elspeth Fotheringham on 26 July 1747 in Forteviot, Perthshire, Scotland. In the Forteviot marriage Thomas's surname was spelt Cree and Elspeth was called Elizabeth.2
His son William Crie was baptised on 23 October 1748 in Aberdalgie, Perthshire; No mother's name is recorded but his sister Ann's mother is given as Elspeth Fotheringham so it mat be assumed that she was also William's mother.2
His son David Cree was born c 1750.
His daughter Ann Crie was baptised on 17 November 1751 in Aberdalgie, Perthshire.2
