We have now made available on-line all issues of CREE NEWS from the first single-page news-sheet of 1990 to the latest "Latest News" email newsletter.

The most recent issue of CREE NEWS can be found by clicking on Latest CREE NEWS in the menu of the left and then on the most recent date in the list which appears under that item.

The Original CREE NEWS was edited and published by Mike Spathaky for the Cree Family History Society from 1990 to 1999, except for three issues (Cree News 12, 13 and 14) which were edited by Trevor Cree. Please note that all articles in Cree News are copyright © 1989-1999 Mike Spathaky and the respective authors of individual articles. All Rights Reserved.

Facsimile images of every issue of the original series may be viewed in the Cree News Originals sub-section in the menu on the left. An alphabetical List of Articles is available at the start of the sub-secton.

That original print series has now being digitised for easier indexing and searching. The digitised version is also published here in the Cree News Series 1 sub-section. Each digitised page has a link to its facsimile original page, and vice versa. An alphabetical List of Articles is available at the start of the sub-secton.

WARNING! Please be aware that much of what was written in Cree News was speculative; theories were advanced about the origins of our surname, hypotheses were suggested about our genealogies. Many of these were subsequently verified: some of the theories and hypotheses were shown to be incorrect. That's how knowledge advances.

Each page will eventually include notes on the articles, often pointing out how subsequent research has either verified or corrected the article in question. These notes are being placed in a right-hand column of the digitised pages of Cree News Series 1.

Following the discontinuation of CREE NEWS, occasional news items were published on this web site as "Latest News." These have been collated as Cree News Series 2.

The title CREE NEWS was revived in February 2011 as an occasional on-line publication. Issues are listed under Latest Cree News.

For the latest information about any Cree individual, please check in the Cree Genealogy Database. Here you will find the most up-to-date information that we have at any time. That is not to say that it is 100% correct. The truth is always a little bit further on from where we are at any time. That's what drives us on to continue the research.
