Margaret Donaldson1

Female, CreeID#1245, (c 1572 - )

Margaret Donaldson was born c 1572.2

Margaret Donaldson may be related to Andrew Donaldson, skinner, who was Treasurer of Perth in 1623. The skinners and the glover were members of a single Guild, normally known as the Guilod of Glovers.3

Margaret Donaldson married Thomas Crie (weaver in Perth) c 1595. The earliest mention of them being married is on 29 April 1595.4

On 29 April 1595 Margaret Donaldson and Thomas Crie (weaver in Perth) were parties to a deed.5

On 1 May 1602 John Crey the younger and Thomas Crie (weaver in Perth) were parties to a deed. Witnesses or people mentioned in it included Margaret Donaldson.7

Her son Henrie Crie was born before 1603. On 1 September 1644 in Perth, Scotland, Montrose stayed for three days in Margaret Donaldson's house after his victory at the battle of Tippermuir. It seems very likely that this was the same person as Margaret Donaldson. The fact that it was her house and not that of Thomas Crie suggests that Thomas had died..8,9
