James Cree arrived in New York City, USA, on 3 March 1907. His name was shown on the ship's manifest as John James Cree aged 40, single and a railway servant. His final destination was Monteal. He had sailed from Glasgow on board the Ethiopia on 16 February 1907.4

Johan Leonhard Fix

His daughter Carolina Matilda Fix was born after 1768 in in a Danish settlement, India.5

Johan Leonhard Fix arrived in Serampore (Frederiksnagore), India, on 28 August 1768. To take up a position with the Danish Asiatic Company there. His name was listed in the DAC Rollbooks as travelling to Trankebar and the Bengal onboard the DAC ship CRON PRINCEN AF DANEMARK. Listed as "bogholder", bookkeeper.6,7,4

On 14 September 1770 Johan Leonhard Fix was appointed as Head Factor at Serampore (Frederiksnagore) following the death of the previous Head, Herman Frederik Henckel.3

Johan Leonhard Fix was dismissed from Asiatisk Kompagni in 1776. He then partnered John Fenwick for private trade and shipping in India. They owned five ships at one time. The partnership ended in court after disagreements.4

His daughter Bolette Marie Fix was baptised on 3 December 1780 in Serampore (Frederiksnagore).8

Johan Leonhard Fix was the formal owner of the Christianius Septimus which arrived in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1784 with John Cree and Carolina Matilda Fix on board. John Cree had sailed as supercargo of the Danish registered ship, the Christianus Septimus, whose formal owner was the Head Factor at Serampore, Johan Leonhard Fix. The real owner was the Anglo-Indian rice merchant Thomas Mercer and the supercargo was Fix's son-in-law and Asiatic Company's supplier of cloths, John Cree, who in the following years was to play such a prominent part in the illicit British India trade under the Danish and Genoese flags. James Cree and Eleanor Cree probably travelled with them too.9

After 1787 Johan Leonhard Fix was living in Amaliegade 13, Copenhagen, Denmark. The house was "Facing the Yellow Palace - Amaliegade 13: Built 1755-56 after drawings by Nicolai Eigtved..."10

Johan Leonhard Fix arrived in Copenhagen in 1787.4

Johan Leonhard Fix died on 2 February 1807 in Copenhagen.1,2,3 He was buried in Assistens Churchyard, Copenhagen, Denmark. When Johan Leonhard Fix, director of Asiatic Company was laid to rest, it had to be be done in style. A velvet hearse with coachman and four horses, "biløber", eight coffin-bearers, nine wagons to make pairs, 25 attendants and two policemen.11,12
