Euphemia Cree

Female, CreeID#3142, (1783 - before 1861)
ChartsBranch 17c. The Abernethy line
Euphemia Cree was born in 1783. The date is a guess. Euphemia's name is only known from the marriage record of her daughter, Euphemia Cree, where she (the mother) is described as Euphemia Brown (Cree). Since the daughter had been described in 1851 as niece of Thomas Cree (born 1771), the only possible conclusion is that her mother Euphemia Brown (Cree) was Thomas Cree's sister. She was the daughter of Andrew Crie and Margaret Moris.

Euphemia Cree married Edward Brown.

Her daughter Euphemia Brown was born between 1828 and 1829.

Euphemia Cree died before 1861.1

Isabella Cree

Female, CreeID#3144, (1836 or 1837 - 1872)
ChartsBranch 17c. The Abernethy line
Isabella Cree was born in 1836 or 1837 in Kelso, Roxburghshire, Scotland.1,2 She was the daughter of Andrew Cree and Christian Dyet.

On 6 June 1841 Isabella Cree was living in the household of Andrew Cree and Christian Dyet, along with Susan Cree, David Cree, Margaret Cree, Andrew Cree and Christian Cree. Andrew and Christian's ages are both rounded down to 30. He is a labourer. Their daughter Christian was shown as Crighton and Isabella was shown as Babella.

Her father Andrew Cree died in January 1851 in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.3

On 30 March 1851 Isabella Cree was living in the household of Christian Dyet in Waldean, Garvald, East Lothian, Scotland, along with Margaret Cree and Andrew Cree. Christian is now a farm labourer and gives her birth place as Gordon, Roxburghshire.4,5 Isabella Cree and George Scott were partners after 1857. No record of a marriage has yet been found. It seems likely that they were not married as the informant of Isabella's death is given on the certificate as George Scott, father of her children and lived with her. It is reported that they may have had a runaway (irregular) marriage at Coldstream Bridge. Coldstream was another place on the Border (like Lamberton Toll and Gretna Green) where irregular marriages were regularly conducted...6,7

Her daughter Christina Scott was born on 1 March 1865 in Yester, Gifford, Midlothian, Scotland.6 When Christian Dyet died on 9 April 1871 in Yester, East Lothian, Scotland, Isabella Cree was the informant; She was 65.8

Isabella Cree died in 1872 in St George, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. The informant was George Scott.9 Isabella Cree was buried in 1872 in in common ground in Rosebank Cemetery, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.10
