I love Everton because my grandfather, Thomas E Cree who had the Royal Duke Hotel, was big friends with Dixie Dean, who'd often pop in to say hello... It is also nice for us because we honour our mum and dad, Dorothy and Larry, by having their names on a memorial cup."

Samuel Sloan
Male, CreeID#11166, (1836 or 1837 - )
Samuel Sloan was born in 1836 or 1837 in Ireland.1
Samuel Sloan married Elizabeth Whiteside on 6 July 1860 in Old Order West, Greenock, Renfrewshire, Scotland. Neither Sam nor Elizabeth appear in the 1851 Census so we may guess that they migrated from Ireland in the 1850s. It is significant that their son John had a stepdaughter Mary Broster who married Thomas Cree in 1912 whom we might assume, if from Portavoe, had Sloan relations.2
His son John May Sloan was born on 22 May 1869.
