Robert was back in Scotland at the death of their father in 1874. He was not definitely in England before 1881 when he was in the same household as William.2

On 7 June 1871 Thomas Cree was living in the household of Mary Kelly in 112 Ravensworth Terrace, Sunniside, Lamesley, County Durham, England, along with William Cree and Alexander Cree. Mary was aged 57, unmarried and a former laundress. She had a 15-year-old son, Cornelius Kelly, and a 10-year-old granddaughter, Margaret Kelly, living with her. Mary and Carnelius were born in Scotland. The Cree brother were shown as unmarried colliery labourers and were also born in Scotland. Thomas was 26, Alexander 24 and William 20.3

On 31 March 1901 Thomas Cree and Alexander Cree were living in 20 Ridley Street, Stanley, County Durham, England. They were both railway platelayers and boarders in the household of Sarah Unwin, 51, a widow, and her two young children. Alexander was 52 and married, while Thomas was 55 and single.6

Thomas Cree died in 1920 in Chester-le-Street Reg Dist, County Durham, England.7

William Cree was born in 1851 or 1852 in Scotland.1,2 He was the son of David Cree and Susanna Aitcheson.

His mother Susanna Aitcheson died in 1865 in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland.3

William Cree was a journeyman baker, like his brother on 16 July 1869 in 25 East Street, Market Street, Glasgow, Scotland.4

William Cree married Margaret McIntyre, daughter of William McIntyre and Mary Robertson, on 16 July 1869 in 2 Craigie Place, ?Coatbridge, Glasgow, Scotland. William was 19 and Margaret 20 years old.5

At some date before the 1871 Census, four of David and Susannah's sons, Thomas, Alexander, William and Robert Cree, moved from Ayrshire to Lamesley, County Durham, England, where they found work as coalminers. Robert was back in Scotland at the death of their father in 1874. He was not definitely in England before 1881 when he was in the same household as William.6

William Cree married Jane Hall, daughter of George Hall, between 1870 and 1873. No record of the marriage has been found but they are shown as married in the 1881 Census. The naming of their daughter Susan Aitcheson Cree shows that this is definitely the same William as the one who married Margaret McIntyre in Glasgow.7

On 7 June 1871 William Cree was living in the household of Mary Kelly in 112 Ravensworth Terrace, Sunniside, Lamesley, County Durham, England, along with Thomas Cree and Alexander Cree. Mary was aged 57, unmarried and a former laundress. She had a 15-year-old son, Cornelius Kelly, and a 10-year-old granddaughter, Margaret Kelly, living with her. Mary and Carnelius were born in Scotland. The Cree brother were shown as unmarried colliery labourers and were also born in Scotland. Thomas was 26, Alexander 24 and William 20.8

His daughter Margaret Cree was born c 1873 in Sunniside, County Durham, England.7

His father David Cree died on 31 October 1874 in 11 Seagate, Irvine, Ayrshire, Scotland.9

His son George Cree was born c 1876 in Sunniside, County Durham.7

George Hall was aged 68, a widower and a coalminer; Jane Cree was his daughter aged 27 and William Cree his son-in-law aged 29 and a labourer born in Ayr, Scotland; Elizabeth Hall (aged 13), Margaret Cree (8), George Cree (5) and Susan Cree (2) were George Hall's grandchildren; Robert Cree aged 27 was unmarried, a boarder and a labourer born in Ayr, Scotland.7

William was a general labourer aged 49 and born in Scotland. Jane was 47 and born in Lanchester, Co. Durham. Their sons, George, William junior and Thomas, were coal miners (hewers) aged 25, 19 and 16. Their daughter Jane was shown as Jeanie aged 13. Sarah, James and Agnes were 8, 6 and 3. Also in the household was a boarder, 16-year-old William Bell, a coal miner also in Scotland.2
